Mens sana in corpore sano - "A healthy mind in a healthy body"

Welcome

I'm Emily (she/her), an integrative therapist and bereavement counsellor (MBACP), based in London.

I work 1-1 with adults (18+) and I provide open-ended therapy for individuals experiencing common mental-health problems including: anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relational issues, loss and grief.

I am here to help you get to know yourself and explore the ways in which you exist within and relate to the world around you. I offer a welcoming and compassionate environment where you can feel seen, heard and accepted as yourself. Together, we can explore the reasons that brought you to therapy and begin to unpack your current and historical behavioural patterns and thought processes.

Working With Me

I truly believe that a safe therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for healing and that the power of human connection should never be underestimated. Whilst I have a special interest in bereavement, grief and loss; people come to me for help with a wide range of issues and my integrative training means I use a variety of therapeutic modalities to best suit the needs of my clients. I may integrate theory and tools from these approaches into the work, but my focus will be on building a safe and containing therapeutic relationship.

The three main approaches I integrate into my practice are:

Attachment Theory

This explores how people form emotional bonds, especially with their primary caregivers during infancy and how this can influence their relationships as adults.

Polyvagal

Theory

Polyvagal Theory

This is a somatic practice theory that looks at how the nervous system influences emotion regulation, social connection and fear responses.

Existential Psychotherapy

This uses philosophical ideas to help people understand their place in the world. It focuses on the human condition and the choices people make about how they live their lives.
